About the Role

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will perform admissions to the child, adolescent, and neurodevelopmental units, including physical examinations. They will also perform clinical assessments and evaluations, plan, implement, and revise treatment in consultation with multidisciplinary teams and community agencies as appropriate. The position involves managing emergency situations and demonstrating expertise in nonviolent crisis prevention and management. Responsibilities are consistent with the scope of practice acts governing health care in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The incumbent must maintain current Basic Life Support “C” Certification and be certified in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing by the American Nursing Association.

Responsibilities

  • Perform admissions to the child, adolescent, and neurodevelopmental units, including physical examinations.
  • Perform clinical assessments and evaluations.
  • Plan, implement, and revise treatment in consultation with multidisciplinary teams and community agencies as appropriate.
  • Completes patient chart documentation as required by all pertinent governing bodies in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate expertise in nonviolent crisis prevention and management.

Requirements

  • Maintain current Basic Life Support “C” Certification.
  • Certified in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing by the American Nursing Association.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
  • Current Massachusetts RN license.
  • Experience in psychiatric mental health nursing.
  • Knowledge of psychopharmacology and psychiatric medications.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and neurodevelopmental populations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Schedule

0.9 FTE; 11:30pm-8am weekdays, with every other weekend 8pm-8:30am. MNA Somerville Union.
