Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and ongoing management for clients across the lifespan
- Conduct initial assessments
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications
- Monitor treatment effectiveness
- Provide psychoeducation to clients and families
- Coordinate care with therapists, primary care providers, and other members of the treatment team
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Participate in case discussions and quality improvement efforts
- Uphold ethical standards, follow evidence-based guidelines, and contribute to a positive, inclusive clinical environment
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mental Health Nursing and Nursing, including assessment, treatment planning, and patient education
- Licensure and experience as a Nurse Practitioner, with demonstrated skills in advanced practice nursing and autonomous clinical decision-making
- Clinical expertise in Mental Health Care and Psychiatric Care, including managing mood, anxiety, psychotic, and trauma-related disorders
- Ability to integrate psychiatric care with multidisciplinary treatment, collaborating effectively with other healthcare and behavioral health professionals
- Active, unencumbered RN and NP licenses in the state of Michigan, with national certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or eligibility to obtain it
- Experience with telehealth platforms and electronic health records (EHRs), and comfort providing care in both in-person and virtual settings
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills, with a commitment to culturally responsive and gender-neutral, non-discriminatory care
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
Preferred qualifications
- Prior outpatient behavioral health or integrated care experience is preferred
This is a hybrid position based in the Grand Rapids Metropolitan Area, with a combination of in-person visits at the practice and some work-from-home for telehealth sessions and administrative tasks.
