Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and ongoing management for clients across the lifespan
• Conduct initial assessments
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications
• Monitor treatment effectiveness
• Provide psychoeducation to clients and families
• Coordinate care with therapists, primary care providers, and other members of the treatment team
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation
• Participate in case discussions and quality improvement efforts
• Uphold ethical standards, follow evidence-based guidelines, and contribute to a positive, inclusive clinical environment

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Mental Health Nursing and Nursing, including assessment, treatment planning, and patient education
• Licensure and experience as a Nurse Practitioner, with demonstrated skills in advanced practice nursing and autonomous clinical decision-making
• Clinical expertise in Mental Health Care and Psychiatric Care, including managing mood, anxiety, psychotic, and trauma-related disorders
• Ability to integrate psychiatric care with multidisciplinary treatment, collaborating effectively with other healthcare and behavioral health professionals
• Active, unencumbered RN and NP licenses in the state of Michigan, with national certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or eligibility to obtain it
• Experience with telehealth platforms and electronic health records (EHRs), and comfort providing care in both in-person and virtual settings
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills, with a commitment to culturally responsive and gender-neutral, non-discriminatory care
• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution

Preferred qualifications

• Prior outpatient behavioral health or integrated care experience is preferred

This is a hybrid position based in the Grand Rapids Metropolitan Area, with a combination of in-person visits at the practice and some work-from-home for telehealth sessions and administrative tasks.
