Responsibilities

  • Conducting psychiatric evaluations and assessments
  • Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans
  • Prescribing and managing psychotropic medications within the scope of practice and collaborative agreement
  • Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic studies
  • Cooking referrals for specialized care when needed
  • Integrating evidence-based practices to support the emotional, behavioral, and psychological well-being of students
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Serving as a clinical resource for interdisciplinary team members
  • Promoting patient education
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives
  • Fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that advances student health and academic success
  • Providing medical care and treatment within established scope of nursing practice to patients as assigned by and under the direction of the collaborating physician
  • To coordinate plan of care, discharge and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet the age specific needs of the patient
  • To perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments
  • To interpret, analyze and evaluate patient’s medical record and social data
  • To perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement
  • To coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing with Psychiatric Mental Health NP certification required
  • If job is in The Kirklin Clinic (TKC), three (3) years of nursing experience preferred
  • Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing required
  • If job is in The Kirklin Clinic (TKC), current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required or must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment
  • Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required

Qualifications

  • Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing required

$46,584.00 - $75,702.00 (Note: this salary is based on a 0.6 FTE - 24 hours per week)
