Responsibilities
- Conducting psychiatric evaluations and assessments
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans
- Prescribing and managing psychotropic medications within the scope of practice and collaborative agreement
- Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic studies
- Cooking referrals for specialized care when needed
- Integrating evidence-based practices to support the emotional, behavioral, and psychological well-being of students
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and compliance with regulatory standards
- Serving as a clinical resource for interdisciplinary team members
- Promoting patient education
- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives
- Fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that advances student health and academic success
- Providing medical care and treatment within established scope of nursing practice to patients as assigned by and under the direction of the collaborating physician
- To coordinate plan of care, discharge and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet the age specific needs of the patient
- To perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments
- To interpret, analyze and evaluate patient’s medical record and social data
- To perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement
- To coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities
Requirements
- Master's degree in Nursing with Psychiatric Mental Health NP certification required
- If job is in The Kirklin Clinic (TKC), three (3) years of nursing experience preferred
- Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing required
- If job is in The Kirklin Clinic (TKC), current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required or must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment
- Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required
Qualifications
- Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing required
