Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat the mental health needs of patients in collaboration with psychiatrists.
  • Formulate treatment plans, prescribe medications, and order/interpret laboratory test results.
  • Provide emergency psychiatric services, conduct physician and psycho-social examinations.
  • Develop and manage patient treatment plans with proper evaluation.
  • Consult with patients and families facing complex disorders, working integratively with primary healthcare providers.
  • Perform invasive procedures as required.
  • Educate patients on health-promoting lifestyle choices, disease prevention, and injury/illness management.
  • Prepare medical records in compliance with Joint Commission, Federal, and State regulations, as well as Oceans’ policies and performance standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing.
  • Current RN License and certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the practicing state.
  • Flexibility with work schedule and ability to work independently within prescribed limits.
  • Sound knowledge of nursing practice, problem-solving skills, and ability to interpret varied instructions (written, oral, diagrams, schedules).
  • Competency in interpersonal communication, verbal/written skills, and Medicare/regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and adult learning principles.
  • Must complete CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Work Environment

  • Subject to frequent interruptions and occasional pressure from multiple inquiries.
  • High-paced, potentially stressful atmosphere requiring strong coping skills.
  • 90% or more of time spent indoors, with exposure to temperature variations.
