Description

SMHWI is seeking a full-time, remote Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide psychiatric care across a detoxification program, residential treatment center, and intensive outpatient program (IOP) in New Mexico. This role supports comprehensive, evidence-based treatment for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The PMHNP will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary clinical team to deliver high-quality psychiatric assessment, medication management, and treatment planning across multiple levels of care.

Schedule & Coverage

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Weekend Coverage: 2 weekends per month
  • On-Call Rotation: 1 week per month

Remote Position

  • New Mexico and Nevada licensed, with DEA

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for patients in: Detox Residential treatment Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nursing, and case management teams
  • Provide clinical oversight and support for detox protocols and stabilization
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
  • Support continuity of care and discharge planning
  • Respond to on-call clinical needs during assigned coverage periods

Maintain Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with state, federal, and organizational regulations

Requirements

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Current PMHNP certification
    • Active New Mexico and Nevada APRN license (required)
    • Active DEA license (required)
    • Ability to practice independently under New Mexico scope of practice
    • Experience in substance use treatment, detox, residential, or IOP settings preferred
    • Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex psychiatric presentations
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • Comfortable working remotely and managing time across multiple programs
