About the role
We are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our growing mental health agency in Virginia Beach, VA. As a pioneer in care coordination, we provide comprehensive services and a supportive environment for our team.
Responsibilities
- Able to work with all ages (must have experience working with children)
- Treats most diagnosis
- Provides outpatient and residential care to patients showing a change or decline in mental status, chronic or urgent medical conditions
- Works independently with other members of the medical team, with entitlements to specific clinical privileges approved by the clinic’s Medical Executive Board
- Participates in an interdisciplinary team providing primary care to employees and patients
- Performs patients’ histories and physicals, risk factor assessment, orders therapeutic and diagnostic tests; attends to consultations and appointments
- Prescribes medications following the clinic’s policy, formulary, and relevant regulations of the State
- Consults with physicians on cases beyond the scope of qualification of PMHNP
- Documents all relevant patient data in medical records and case presentations
- Delivers healthcare education to patients and families for disease prevention
- Communicates effectively with other health professionals for effective delivery of clinic service to patients
- Provides consultation to the clinic’s nursing and medical staff for improving their work performance, enhancing overall quality service delivery
- Proficient in the English language, both in writing and speaking, to communicate clearly with all stakeholders, including patients, families, clinic staff, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintains graduate professional nurse and nurse practitioner registration in a state, which must be unrestricted, current, complete, and active
- Obtains Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- Has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing followed by a master’s degree in Psychiatric or Mental Health Nursing from a state-approved and accredited school for professional nursing training
- Understands the impact of society on mental health and possesses strong problem-solving, monitoring, and examination skills
- Is compassionate, sensitive, and possesses strong reasoning and thinking skills
- Has strong computer skills, including working with word processing and data-entering applications, as well as medical software applications
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Psychiatric or Mental Health Nursing
- Graduate professional nurse and nurse practitioner registration in a state, unrestricted, current, complete, and active
- Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Experience working with children
- Entitlement to specific clinical privileges approved by the clinic’s Medical Executive Board
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Strong understanding of societies and their impact on mental health
- Strong problem-solving, monitoring, and examination skills

- Up to $130,000.00 per year + Bonus
