About Carolina Psychiatry

Carolina Psychiatry, DBA Taral Sharma MD PC, provides compassionate, evidence-based outpatient mental health care for adults and adolescents throughout South Carolina. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, physician assistants, therapists, and other behavioral health professionals working together to provide individualized care. Our services include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychotherapy, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and Spravato® treatment. We treat patients experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and a wide range of other behavioral health conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for new patients.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a variety of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s symptoms, diagnosis, history, and treatment goals.
  • Provide ongoing medication management, including prescribing, monitoring treatment response, evaluating side effects, and adjusting medications as appropriate.
  • Provide psychotherapy and supportive therapeutic interventions within the provider’s education, training, and scope of practice.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatment alternatives, symptom management, and wellness strategies.
  • Evaluate appropriate patients for Spravato® and TMS services in collaboration with the supervising psychiatrist and treatment team.
  • Participate in the monitoring and clinical management of patients receiving Spravato® treatment.
  • Support TMS treatment planning and evaluate patient progress during treatment.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Assess patient progress and update treatment plans when clinically necessary.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Follow applicable clinical guidelines, prescribing regulations, treatment protocols, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate ethical and professional conduct.
  • Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and clinical quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current national PMHNP board certification, or scheduled to obtain certification before the start date.
  • Current South Carolina APRN license with prescriptive authority, or eligibility to obtain before beginning employment.
  • DEA registration and required prescribing credentials, or eligibility to obtain.
  • Strong assessment, communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centered mental healthcare.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary outpatient setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in outpatient psychiatry or behavioral healthcare.
  • Experience treating adults, adolescents, or both.
  • Experience providing medication management and psychotherapy.
  • Knowledge of treatment-resistant depression and advanced treatment options.
  • Previous Spravato® or TMS experience is beneficial but not required.

Newly certified PMHNPs with strong clinical preparation and a desire to develop their skills are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM (75 patients per week).
