Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Maryland

About the role

Backpack Healthcare is growing its Maryland clinical team and seeks a compassionate, clinically strong Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who wants the flexibility of part‑time telehealth practice while benefiting from collaboration and support. As a clinician‑led, minority‑owned organization, Backpack provides accessible mental health care to children, teens, and young adults through telehealth. You will join an integrated care team alongside therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators, working together to support the same child and family. This role is ideal for supplementing an existing role, balancing family commitments, or expanding your telehealth practice, offering flexibility without sacrificing meaningful clinical work.

Responsibilities

• Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and developing diagnostic formulations
• Creating individualized treatment plans in partnership with patients and families
• Prescribing and managing psychotropic medications while monitoring effectiveness, safety, and clinical progress
• Providing brief supportive interventions and psychoeducation alongside medication management
• Collaborating with therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators through regular case consultation
• Maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation in our EHR
• Educating patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and expected outcomes

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Maryland PMHNP license
• PMHNP‑BC board certification
• Active DEA license
• Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited PMHNP program

Qualifications

• Experience with—or a strong interest in—working with children, adolescents, and families
• Comfort working independently in a telehealth environment
• Multi‑state or compact licensure preferred

Pay

• $100 per completed psychiatric intake
• $40 per completed follow‑up session
• Monthly bonus potential based on eligible clinical and performance metrics
