About the role

This is a professional, office-based position providing psychiatric services to children and adolescents as part of the Medical Department in the Outpatient services division. The Medical Department serves a wide range of clients across all agency programs, including Families First (high-risk children and families) and Housing First (high-risk and housing-unstable individuals). Services are delivered in clinic, field-based, and home-based settings.

The Psychiatric APRN provides psychiatric mental health care, including assessing, diagnosing, medication management, and treating individuals and families with psychiatric and substance use disorders. Responsibilities include treating severe and persistent mental illness, trauma, and individuals at risk for violence or suicide. The role involves developing treatment plans, completing assessments and outcomes, and collaborating as part of a treatment team.

Services must adhere to trauma-informed care principles, addressing how trauma impacts family functioning and incorporating trauma resolution skills. Care must be culturally tailored to each client. The position requires meeting an annual client-facing care target of 1,316 hours, with weekly, monthly, and annual productivity expectations as an essential function.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat psychiatric and substance use disorders in children and adolescents.
  • Provide medication management for severe and persistent mental illnesses.
  • Develop and implement trauma-informed treatment plans.
  • Complete clinical assessments and track outcomes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Deliver services using trauma-informed care principles, addressing trauma’s impact on family functioning.
  • Tailor interventions to the unique cultural needs of clients.
  • Meet annual client-facing care hours (1,316 hours) and productivity targets.
  • Use electronic health records (e.g., Avatar) and Telehealth platforms for service delivery and supervision.

Requirements

  • Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • Active Florida nursing license and valid/current Florida DEA number.
  • Expertise in prescribing psychotropic medications for children and adolescents with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (e.g., Avatar) and Telehealth platforms.

Pay

$70/hour for 0–5 years of experience; $76.92/hour for 5+ years of experience.
