Psych Registered Nurse, Adult 2 (Geriatrics), Evenings (3pm-11pm), VPH

About the Role

Vanderbilt Health is the region's largest comprehensive academic health system, with eight hospitals and over 180 clinics. We are seeking a Registered Nurse for our VPH Adult II Program, a 16-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6. This role involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning, while collaborating with the health care team to establish patient goals and evaluate progress.

Position Highlights

• 16-bed unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Care for adult patients with diagnoses including:
  • Age 55+
  • Age < 55 with a Geriatric Lifestyle (chronic medical comorbidities characteristic of later life or significant assistive devices)
  • Dementia (including Alzheimer's and Lewy Body Dementia)

Schedule

Four 8-hour shifts per week from 3:00pm–11:00pm for a total of 32 hours per week, including some weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum
• Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis
• Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes
• Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved discipline program
• 1 year of relevant RN work experience
• Active RN license

• Care Planning (Novice): Demonstrates ability to anticipate resource needs, identify tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work; competently handles multiple assignments simultaneously; adapts to changes with minimal disruption
• Nursing Patient Education (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency in providing patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty
• Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to assess and evaluate patients; conducts primary care patient interviews and physical examinations; gathers pertinent clinical data
