About the role
The Department of State (DOS) - Secret clearance level is seeking a highly skilled individual to support their Worldwide Protective Services III (WPS III) Task Orders (TO) in austere environments. The selected candidate will provide protection and medical care for the client and team members.
Primary Function
You would be responsible for:
- Providing advanced emergency medical care to Contractor personnel, COM personnel, and others.
- Performing day-to-day personal protective security functions.
- Driving the lead vehicle, principal's vehicle, follow vehicle, and/or acting as a response agent during motorcade or similar operations.
- Maintaining assigned protective formation positions during the principal's walking movements.
- Staffing the security post at the principal's residence, or manning the command post or other static posts as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Additional responsibilities include:
- Providing tactical combat casualty care during emergency events.
- Being assigned to a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) team, responding to potential situations as required.
Job Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Active or inactive National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification as a paramedic is required.
- Certification must be valid and active prior to deployment, and remain valid and active throughout the period of deployment.
- Current approved Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Professional Rescuer certification or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Advanced Trauma Training credentials are required.
- A minimum of three (3) years of pre-hospital emergency medical services experience at the AEMT or paramedic level is required.
- A valid U.S. Driver’s License and U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration are required.
- Must be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.
- Pass the pre-employment Physical Readiness Test (PRT) in order to advance in the application process for the position.
- Attend and successfully complete the DOS Protective Security Specialist Basic and Quick Reaction Force training course.
- Qualify with the Glock-19, M4 or MK18 (as specified by the designated TO), M240, and M249.
- Complete the WPS III PRT.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
- Must be approved for a Department of State Medical Clearance.
- Must be able to walk, squat, crawl, run, quickly enter/exit vehicles, maneuver around obstacles, carry heavy equipment and personnel, and operate mission-essential issued equipment requiring dexterity.
- Must be able to operate and/or travel in vehicles on improved and unimproved roadways, as well as off-road.
- Must be physically able to carry and operate firearms.
- Maintain physical fitness readiness that includes, but is not limited to: medium and/or long-distance running, bench presses, agility runs, push-ups, sit-ups, and stretching.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods with minimal breaks.
- Must possess no medical or physical impediments to traveling overseas to and within countries considered dangerous or unhealthy.
- Must be able to travel long distances in airplanes, helicopters, and road vehicles.
