PSRC Americas Registration & Regulation Sr. Specialist
Job Scope
The incumbent is primarily responsible for managing chemical regulatory compliance and registration of new and existing chemical substances in the United States, Canada, and other Americas countries where chemical substance registration applies. This role ensures timely preparation and submission of regulatory registrations to enable market access for newly introduced products and to maintain business continuity for existing products in the Americas region.
This role provides regulatory and registration expertise to Huntsman businesses operating in the Americas by coordinating chemical substance notifications, registrations, and required regulatory interactions with authorities in the Americas region. The job holder serves as the PSRC representative in the United States, including responsibility for participation in the Responsible Care Committee, and provides strategic regulatory input while aligning with Huntsman’s Regulatory Compliance Management and Responsible Care objectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage and prepare high-quality chemical substance registration dossiers for submission to competent authorities in the Americas region, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and business timelines
- Act as the primary regulatory registration contact for Huntsman businesses in the Americas region for chemical substance registration activities
- Coordinate chemical notification and registration processes, including data collection, document preparation, timeline tracking, internal approvals, and debate/negotiation with competent authorities
- Serve as Huntsman’s PSRC representative in the U.S. Responsible Care Committee and relevant industry Responsible Care initiatives
- Liaise with all business stakeholders and competent authorities in the Americas region to facilitate successful registration outcomes
- Coverage of notification and registration processes, e.g., ensuring that needed studies, including analytics, toxicology, and phys-chem tests, are performed and monitored so that the data becomes available within the agreed/defined timeline
- Coordinate with functional teams to ensure that notification content, new data, and outcomes are reflected in SAP EHS and other PEHS databases
- Keep abreast of relevant, new, and emerging regulations and legislation (TSCA, CEPA, Latin America) relating to global chemicals management; identify new trends, perform impact assessments, and proactively inform the businesses, minimizing risks and liability
- Monitor regulatory developments in the Americas region, evaluate potential business impacts, and communicate regulatory implications to internal stakeholders
- Lead, chair, or participate in relevant internal business meetings and external technical committees of Industry Associations and Regulatory Authorities to represent and protect Huntsman interests, including ACC / ETAD
- Provide training related to chemical notification and registration regulations and related tools to all stakeholders
- Support regulatory compliance activities related to inspections, audits, and authority inquiries as needed
- Lead, chair, or participate in relevant internal business meetings and external technical committees of Industry Associations and Regulatory Authorities to represent and protect Huntsman interests, including ACC / ETAD
- Support Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives in accordance with company policies
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required for all jobs.
- One year of relevant experience may typically be substituted for one year of formal education.
- University Degree in Science / Engineering with 15+ years of specific relevant experience
- Advanced Technical Degree with 8+ years
Skills And Knowledge
- Good project management skills
- Experience in analytical chemistry and a working knowledge of nanomaterial safety assessment
- Communicates tactfully and effectively both verbally and in writing, and maintains effective work relations with those encountered during the course of employment
