Job Responsibilities
Assesses patients, clients and families and recognizes normal parameters, deviations and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental and behavioral status as it relates to cardio-pulmonary needs using a family centered approach to care.
Plans and prioritizes care to meet patient, client and family needs.
Collections clinical data, utilizes decision trees and guidelines.
Matches formal knowledge with clinical events to make appropriate decisions during sleep study testing.
Documentation:
- Demonstrates compliance with established practices in documentation.
- Documents routine observations, changes in procedure and significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnography results.
- Provides thorough documentation during data collection based on direct observation of the patient through real time comments and narrative notes.
- Follows procedures to establish and document baseline values (such as body position, oxyhemoglobin saturation, end tidal carbon dioxide values, respiratory and heart rates, etc.).

Demonstrates competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of the patients, clients and families according to CCHMC policies, procedures and standards.
Identifies goals and outcomes for health with the patient, client and family.
Directs interventions towards the attainment of goals and outcomes as it relates to cardio pulmonary health.

Demonstrates critical thinking by making appropriate care decisions and relating that information to the healthcare team.

Demonstrate compliance with established practices in documentation of care.

Anticipates needs of patients and families as they move through the healthcare system.

Enthusiastically supports leadership in efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital.
Maintains awareness of safety and departmental policies and procedures.
Ensures all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis.
Mindful of CCHMCs processes and compliance with CMS standards and assertively communicates safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members.
Effectively coordinates the delivery of respiratory care while in the role of Lead.
Serve as a point of contact for the ongoing monitoring of workload, work flow and appropriate respiratory care staffing levels.

About the Role
To function as a professional sleep/respiratory therapist and able to apply theoretical knowledge to the care of infant child, adolescent and adult patients and clients.
To demonstrate competence in Sleep/Respiratory Care skills, problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting.
To recognize the need for professional growth and to take appropriate steps towards meeting educational needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 0+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
- RT License, Registered RT
