About the role
The Utah Pediatric Partnership to Improve Healthcare Quality (UPIQ) is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic member to support clinical practice teams within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah. This position offers dynamic opportunities to collaborate with various healthcare team members and drive meaningful improvements in patient care.
Responsibilities
- Organize QI projects by working with UPIQ leadership and ad hoc planning committees.
- Recruit practices, research best practices, curate resources, recruit speakers and peer mentors, design relevant curriculum, coordinate and maintain data collection, develop evaluations, complete applications for CME/MOC credits, and administer post-surveys.
- Support practice teams throughout projects with professional facilitation, mentoring, resources, data collection and reporting, and diffusion of lessons learned.
- Conduct project wrap-up activities, including analyzing results and evaluating outcomes.
- Contribute to academic publications (abstracts, posters, manuscripts).
- Support UPIQ Steering Committee and other relevant committees as needed.
- Foster and support relationships with partner organizations.
- Prepare proposals for grant or funding opportunities.
- Develop content for UPIQ relevant websites, newsletters, and conferences.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to continually improve necessary skills.
- Participate in ongoing UPIQ needs assessment to identify improvement opportunities and topics for future improvement projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a health care field or equivalency (two years of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
- Two years of clinical or related hospital experience.
- A current Utah License to practice nursing or Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.
Qualifications
- Three years' work experience in a clinical setting (inpatient or ambulatory).
- Demonstrated experience in utilizing quality improvement methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Knowledge of "Quality Improvement" ideals with experience in a quality program (problem identification/investigation, root cause analysis, CA/PA).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proven ability to facilitate teamwork within clinical environments.
- Strong proficiency in PC/Windows with working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Skills
- Lean or Six Sigma certification.
- Familiarity with pay for performance or quality measures by payers (e.g. Medicaid, HEDIS, NCQA).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with UPIQ colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
