About the Role

We are seeking an outpatient Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the new West Valley location. This position will primarily provide patient care at the Farmington Health Center, with initial training conducted at the University before the new location opens. The Nurse Practitioner will provide both primary and specialty medical services in a University Health Sciences outpatient clinic. This is an excellent opportunity to help establish and grow services at a new clinical location.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the physical condition of a group of patients by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories.
  • Formulates the medical plan and prognosis based on patient’s condition.
  • Consults with physician(s) regarding patient health care plans and treatment.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient’s clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence.
  • Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.
  • Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance.
  • Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.

Problem Solving: Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area. Demonstrated leadership, teaching, research and communication skills. Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.

Requirements

  • Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
  • Utah State prescriptive privileges.
  • Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
  • UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
  • This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
  • Must be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.

Pay

$113,043.00 - $150,033.00 depending on qualifications.

  • The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”). Eligible new hires with prior URS service may elect to enroll in URS if they make the election before they become eligible for retirement (usually the first day of work).
  • Individuals who previously retired and are receiving monthly retirement benefits from URS are subject to URS’ post-retirement rules and restrictions.
