About the role

Provides therapeutic Christian counseling care for individuals working as part of the global Bible translation ministry. Develops personalized plans to help clients meet short and long-term personal goals, collaborates with internal teams and external agencies, and works towards independent licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic Christian counseling care for individuals, couples, families, and teams under supervision.
  • Create personalized plans designed to help clients meet their short and long-term personal goals.
  • Participate in CDOC (Counselor Development and Orientation Course) with the completion of a Capstone project if not already completed.
  • Work on fulfilling requirements for post-graduate counseling experience hours, accruing direct and indirect counseling hours under a state-licensed mental health supervisor.
  • Become familiar with the personnel policies of Wycliffe, SIL, and other sending organizations, including their applications and implications for counseling staff.
  • Receive training on specific issues present within the unique organizational and cross-cultural contexts of staff work.
  • Develop an understanding of preventive, therapeutic, and consultative approaches most effective for addressing issues in this context.
  • Maintain client records in accordance with ethical and professional standards.

Member Responsibilities

  • Partnership Development: Build and retain a team of prayer partners that will sustain them during their entire Wycliffe ministry according to the Wycliffe Partnership Development policy.
  • Organizational Representative: Present the global ministry of Wycliffe and encourage interested individuals and churches to participate in this work.
  • Maintain an exemplary standard of ethics and conduct that reflects biblical principles.

Qualifications

  • Master’s level or higher academic degree in a mental health field, such as psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy, compatible with licensing standards in sending country/state.
  • Temporary or provisional local state license in clinical mental health/counseling required.
