Provisionally Licensed Behavior Analyst

About the Role

Administers, conducts, evaluates, and supervises the implementation of comprehensive behavioral assessment measures (e.g., Practical Functional Assessment (PFA), Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scale, Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS), Essential Eight Quick Assessment) and/or other functional assessment measures. Develops individualized goals and objectives for home, community, and center-based programs based on the needs of the people supported. Designs behavior support plans using functional assessment data and serves as a role model for a highly engaging and functioning behavioral team.

Responsibilities

• People We Serve (50%)
  • Ensures appropriate behavioral data systems are implemented to collect quantifiable data at regular intervals for evaluating behavior plans and individual goals.
  • Completes all necessary documentation in a timely and satisfactory manner per AbleLight’s Good Documentation Policy or as requested by the Director of Behavioral Services.
  • Fulfills clinically recommended service hours on client treatment plans.
  • Develops and writes comprehensive reports documenting behavioral recommendations for guardians, caregivers, and agency personnel.
  • Maintains availability to respond to the needs of the persons served, providing consultation and on-site assistance during behavior crisis situations.
  • Responds to referrals for service in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Meets regularly with assigned BCBA and Director of Behavioral Services.
  • Immediately notifies supervisors of issues impacting the progress and satisfaction of the people served.
• Training and Development (30%)
  • Teaches management staff and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) on the proper implementation of reinforcement, proactive behavior programs, data collection systems, and monitoring/reporting systems.
  • Conducts regular caregiver and/or guardian training and consultation.
• Leadership (10%)
  • Serves as a role model for behavior technicians, RBTs, and practicum students by actively developing others, empowering teams, promoting collaboration, and removing barriers.
  • Receives and applies constructive feedback and communicates when additional support is needed.
• Professional Development (10%)
  • Participates in professional meetings or conferences as required by the Director of Behavioral Services and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or state regulations to maintain certification/licensure.
  • Maintains required training, including crisis management procedures as needed.

Requirements

• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
  • Enrolled in or completed an MA/MS program in Human Services or related field.
  • Supervised hours and approval from an existing BCBA.
  • Ability to submit samples of clinical work to the state for approval.
• Experience:
  • 1 year of knowledge in functional behavior assessment design, behavior support plans, program/goal development, behavior reduction, and skills acquisition procedures.
  • 2 years of experience supporting individuals with lifelong disabilities.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience mentoring highly engaged and effective teams.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current Provisional Licensure or ability to obtain and maintain Provisional Licensure as a BCBA in the state of Missouri.

Skills

• Strong knowledge and deep understanding of the science of behavior analysis and behavior analytic therapies.
• Ability to work effectively and influence multidisciplinary teams without direct supervisory responsibility.
• Ability to develop and deliver training to leadership and team members.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and in a team environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and industry-standard productivity/project management software.
• Effective communication (written/oral), presentation skills, and professional presence.
• Willingness to learn and grow in a flexible environment.

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to use a keyboard and computer for a minimum of seven hours per day.
• Ability to work irregular hours as needed.
• Local and overnight travel, up to 25% of the time.
