Provide Caregiver Relief in West Allis, WI
Details
We are looking for compassionate volunteers to help a family in need. Caregivers have an exhausting job of caring for their loved one around the clock. We are looking for someone who is able to sit with a hospice patient as their caregiver takes time away for self care, doctors appointments, or groceries. Your role would be to provide supervision and companionship to the patient while their caregiver is away. You will not provide any hands on care such as changing, feeding, or moving the patients. We are looking for individuals that are available to help 1-2 hours per week.
Description
Our volunteers are full members of our hospice team and often form close ties with the patient and their family. In our Volunteer Orientation class you will understand some of the challenges that face patients and families and ways you can bring quality of life and compassionate care to them. As a hospice volunteer you will learn about the hospice philosophy, communicating with patients and families, family dynamics, spiritual care and the grief process.
