About the role
The Alaska Veterans & Pioneers Home is recruiting for a Protective Services Specialist 3. The position is open to Alaska residents only.
Responsibilities
- Provide social services to clients including individuals, groups, and families of residents.
- Aid residents and families in accessing outside resources such as Medicaid, Social Security, and Veterans Benefits.
- Serve as a casework expert and provide intensive, highly skilled services with complex personal and social problems.
- Lead neighborhood teams; includes facilitating team growth/development, creating a caring, vibrant, and engaging home for the elders.
Qualifications
- Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving, Customer Service, Integrity/Honesty, Interpersonal Skills, Oral Communication, Writing, and Technical Credibility.
- Competency-based knowledge, skills and abilities that are desired or contribute to the success in this position.
- Experience in social services, health care, or legal services; in child, adult, family, or group case management, licensing, or probation services; or providing care or services to delinquent juveniles.
- Valid Alaska driver's license and/or a background investigation including fingerprinting may be required.

Pay
The wage for this position increased by 3% effective July 1, 2026.
Schedule
This position is a 24-hour facility and is located in the Palmer Veterans and Pioneer Home, an assisted living home at 250 E Fireweed Ave in Palmer, Alaska.
