Protective Services Officer, Part-Time

About the role

The Protective Services Officer provides corporate personnel, facilities, target executives, and their residences with professional protective services. This part-time position works 20-32 hours per week depending on department needs.

Responsibilities

• Control access to SPLC facilities and residences using sensors, detection devices, and tactics.
• Operate and monitor integrated security systems to detect unauthorized access.
• Identify threats and unsafe conditions, and respond directly to minimize risks to SPLC personnel.
• Operate telephone and radio equipment to communicate with other security personnel.
• Deter terrorist threats by maintaining a highly trained, armed, professional security presence via vehicle and foot patrol.
• Conduct surveillance detection operations using sophisticated Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) systems.
• Perform executive protection security details in support of executive travel and appearances.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the role.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience as an armed/unarmed security officer, military personnel, or law enforcement officer.
• Ability to qualify with a variety of small arms and long-range weapons.
• Ability to execute physically demanding defensive tactics.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Demonstrate awareness of SPLC's mission and vision, and commitment to justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racist principles.

Pay

Starting salary is $51,558 annually ($24.78 per hour). Salary is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This part-time role works 20-32 hours per week, depending on department needs. Occasional work under strenuous physical demands or hazardous conditions may be required.

Work Environment

• Much of the duty is performed outside under varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift and transport items up to 75 pounds.
• In-office work requires employees to work in their assigned SPLC offices every workday unless otherwise instructed.
