About the role
The Protective Services Officer provides corporate personnel, facilities, target executives, and their residences with professional protective services. This part-time position works 20-32 hours per week depending on department needs.
Responsibilities
- Control access to SPLC facilities and residences using sensors, detection devices, and tactics.
- Operate and monitor integrated security systems to detect unauthorized access.
- Identify threats and unsafe conditions, and respond directly to minimize risks to SPLC personnel.
- Operate telephone and radio equipment to communicate with other security personnel.
- Deter terrorist threats by maintaining a highly trained, armed, professional security presence via vehicle and foot patrol.
- Conduct surveillance detection operations using sophisticated Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) systems.
- Perform executive protection security details in support of executive travel and appearances.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the role.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience as an armed/unarmed security officer, military personnel, or law enforcement officer.
- Ability to qualify with a variety of small arms and long-range weapons.
- Ability to execute physically demanding defensive tactics.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Demonstrate awareness of SPLC's mission and vision, and commitment to justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racist principles.
Skills
- Observant and responsive: evaluate situations and determine appropriate protective responses.
- Experienced with high-tech integrated security systems and executive protection.
- Attentive and thorough: continual attention to detail when analyzing threats and unsafe conditions.
- Effective communication with SPLC staff and guests.
Pay
Starting salary is $51,558 annually ($24.78 per hour). Salary is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This part-time role works 20-32 hours per week, depending on department needs. Occasional work under strenuous physical demands or hazardous conditions may be required.
Work Environment
- Much of the duty is performed outside under varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and transport items up to 75 pounds.
- In-office work requires employees to work in their assigned SPLC offices every workday unless otherwise instructed.
