Protective Intelligence & Threat Analyst

About the role

Within the Enterprise Security group, you will be part of the Global Physical Security team responsible for protecting an organization's people, workplaces, and physical assets worldwide from physical threats. This role sits at the intersection of intelligence, investigations, and security operations and requires a self-starter comfortable operating across multiple teams. A key priority is working alongside Lam’s security managers globally to assess risk, identify physical threats, support travel risk management, and more.

This is a protective intelligence and threat analysis position available in Fremont, CA; Tualatin, OR; and Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities

• Threat Monitoring and Collection: monitor OSINT, social media, and dark web platforms for risks; evaluate concerning findings and present analyzed intelligence to peers, stakeholders, and leadership; monitor global news, geopolitical shifts, and local events affecting safety.
• Threat Assessment and Investigation: support security managers in investigative matters; evaluate persons of interest and investigate violent or disruptive threats; assist in risk-based intelligence assessments on corporate sites and/or personnel.
• Operational Support and Briefings: deliver actionable intelligence products and briefings; recommend proactive risk mitigation strategies for travel and facilities; coordinate with Security Control Centers (SCCs) during active incidents.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders: work closely with Lam’s cross-functional teams, such as InfoSec, IT, HR, and Legal to support Lam’s wider goals and growth.
• Reporting & Metrics: contribute to regular management reporting, offering insights into the performance and effectiveness of the corporate security ecosystem.

Must be able to maintain confidentiality and always use sound discretion and judgment.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, international relations, or similar fields with an emphasis on analytical skills; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
• Deep experience with OSINT tools, social media monitoring platforms, and threat intelligence software.
• 3-4 years of proven analytical capability, including strong investigative skills to parse vast amounts of unstructured data and distinguish credible threats from online noise.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with little guidance.
• Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert level proficiency with Boolean logic and threat tools in the marketspace.
• Practical familiarity with dark web investigations.
• Data automation and scripting to automate open-source intelligence.
• Experience within a global semiconductor company or equivalent industry.
• Ability to break down and understand complex problems and develop innovative solutions.

Pay

Salary Range for this position: $114,000.00 - $211,000.00. The range is relevant to applicants residing in California and most states. Salary offers depend on factors including location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in the role. Actual salary may vary due to factors such as unpaid time off, leave, or company-mandated shutdowns.

Schedule

This role follows a hybrid work model. For 'On-site Flex,' you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. For 'Virtual Flex,' you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site, and remotely the rest of the time.
