The Opportunity
Perform the engineering design, technical strategy, and delivery of HV and EHV substation projects for power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers.
Prepare substation P&C design packages including single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, control house layout, cable schedules, relay panel front and rear layout, cable tray layout and bills of materials to quality, time and budget requirements.
Support in substation studies and calculations including AC auxiliary system sizing, battery sizing and voltage drop.
Provide construction support and inter-disciplinary coordination.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in technology or related discipline and 4 years related experience.
- Proven 4+ years experience in 15kV through 345kV P&C utility substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
- Advanced understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as needed, to achieve agreed goals and results.
- Excellent communication skills — able to interact with clients, regulatory bodies, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Ability to represent the company credibly.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools – MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook.
