Prosthetist and/or Orthotist Clinician (CPO, CO, Board Eligible)

Join our Elmira, NY clinic as a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist (or board-eligible) in a stable, high-impact role where you can serve a diverse patient mix, including orthotics, prosthetics, and pediatric cases across a rural hospital network. You’ll collaborate with an experienced clinical team, newly certified fitters, and a market lab supported by 7–8 technicians, allowing you to focus on quality patient care. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians to evaluate and analyze patient needs for prosthetic and/or orthotic services; recommend treatment options when necessary.
• Examine and evaluate patient needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
• Formulate designs for prosthetic and/or orthotic devices, selecting materials and performing cast measurements, model modifications, and layouts.
• Perform fittings, including static and dynamic alignments, and evaluate devices on patients to ensure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality.
• Instruct patients in the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices and provide follow-up care.
• Identify and resolve issues to ensure patient satisfaction with devices provided.
• Provide in-service training to physicians and allied health care professionals.
• Manage materials, quality, and performance processes to maximize device quality while balancing costs and operational performance.
• Develop and enhance business relationships with physicians, case managers, and referral sources to secure ongoing and future referrals.
• Plan and implement strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets in coordination with management.
• Document detailed clinical notes in patient records.
• Mentor residents or newly certified clinicians and assist other clinical staff as needed.
• Provide information to administrative staff for reimbursement activities.
• Adhere to safety regulations, Medicare, and other governmental regulations, including bloodborne and OSHA requirements.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned, including on-call, hospital calls, or floating between clinic locations.

Requirements

• Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC), or a baccalaureate degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics (or foreign equivalent) with current ABC Board-Eligibility in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy standards.
• Ability to obtain and maintain state licensure where required.
• Willingness to consider candidates certified in one discipline who wish to see patients in their certified discipline while completing residency in the other.
• Willingness to consider candidates with at least 5 years of demonstrated experience providing prosthetic and/or orthotic services under the supervision of a certified clinician (if not certified or board-eligible).

Physical Abilities

• Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques frequently throughout the workday, capable of lifting fifty (50) pounds alone.
• Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a workday.
• Visual acuity (near and distant) sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people, and understand written directions.
• Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions.
• Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility.
• Fine motor skills adequate for scheduling, preparing patients, equipment, and supplies.
• Ability to participate in sustained activities for extended periods in accordance with state labor laws.

Pay

Pay range of $70,000.00–$90,000.00 per year, plus bonus and benefits. This range is posted to comply with New York State Law. Hanger salary ranges vary based on skill, ability, knowledge, geographic location, and other variables.
