About the role
This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop combustion devices (injectors, chambers, nozzles, thrusters, igniters, and related components) for the BE-3U Engine Program.
- Responsible for a combustion device's complete product life-cycle from initial requirements through flight qualification including design, manufacturing, test support, performing test data reviews, processing non-conforming hardware and writing technical reports.
- Work with minimal direction to successfully execute engineering and manufacturing upgrade activities.
- Contribute to Blue’s BE-3U engine performance and impact the history of space exploration.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in engineering discipline (aerospace, mechanical, chemical or physics desired)
- Working knowledge of a variety of combustion devices
- 5+ years of industry experience in a related field
- Experience examining, and providing resolutions for, non-conforming hardware
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), (ASME Y14.5)
- Familiarity with data analysis and data processing
Qualifications
- Passion for Blue Origin’s mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
- Advanced degree in engineering discipline (preferred)
- Strong technical fundamentals in propulsion, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and combustion analysis
- Strong knowledge of hardware design processes, and hardware fabrication techniques related to combustion devices
- Experience transitioning products from development to production
- Experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)
- Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, and Windchill 10
Skills
Must have a background in fluid mechanics, heat transfer and structural mechanics to be successful.
