About the Role

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is hiring an Associate or Experienced Propulsion Engineer to perform propulsion system qualification support and analysis in the St. Louis, MO region. The role involves new product design, development, and integration projects for Fixed Wing Aircraft. Propulsion engineers are essential to the development, safety, and success of Boeing’s products and solutions, contributing from initial vehicle concept definition through design, test, validation, and in-service support.

The Flight Systems Engineering Capability is responsible for Flight Engineering across a large portfolio of products, including Fighter Aircraft, Unmanned Aircraft, and Missiles/Weapons Systems. This role offers exposure to a variety of unique and challenging projects, collaboration with other engineering disciplines, and opportunities to develop specialized skills applicable across multiple product domains.

Responsibilities

  • Perform propulsion system support and analysis as part of a larger flight science team.
  • Define requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems, and air-breathing systems.
  • Define, coordinate, and control functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and vehicle.
  • Develop specifications and architectural/configuration concepts for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Configure/design propulsion sub-systems and components to meet vehicle design and performance criteria.
  • Use testing, analysis, modeling, and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance.
  • Support definition and performance of certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components.
  • Review, process, and approve engine and component qualification documentation.
  • Assist with propulsion ground and flight test planning.
  • Develop concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements.
  • Vendor management and coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-U.S. equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 2+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of work-related experience and technical education.
  • Willing to travel at least 10% of the time.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a “U.S. Person” (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). An interim Secret Clearance pre-start and final Secret Clearance post-start is required.
  • This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of work-related experience and technical education (Level 3).
  • Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
  • Propulsion ground and flight test experience.
  • Experience with jet engines and/or air-breathing propulsion operation fundamentals.
  • Propulsion analysis, integration design, system installation, or support experience.
  • Propulsion system certification or qualification experience.
  • 3D modeling, NX, or Unigraphics experience.

Pay

Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.

  • Level 2: $91,800 - $124,200
  • Level 3: $112,200 - $151,800

This position is for 1st shift and does not offer visa sponsorship.
