PROPOSAL MANAGER II
About the Role
Under the general direction of the Customer Excellence Group General Manager and in accordance with Yokogawa Corporation of America’s (YCA) short-term and long-term business strategic plans and goals, this role is responsible for the general accountability for proposals, managing all aspects of the proposal process, timeliness, and quality. You will interact with counterparts in Yokogawa global affiliates to develop, maintain, and improve proposal standards, processes, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provides management and administration for the proposal work process in YCA regional proposal functions.
- Supervises personnel involved in proposals across the region.
- Plans resource loading in accordance with sales forecasts to meet business demand and market growth in the region.
- Continuously promotes improvements in work practices, processes, procedures, proposal standards, and workforce skill sets for better efficiency, quality, and accuracy.
- Interacts with counterparts in other regions to develop, maintain, and improve proposal standards, processes, and procedures.
- Prepares and executes all fiscal budgetary responsibilities, including travel, general expenses, and capital requirements.
- Controls and monitors expenses related to proposals and technical support to sales across divisions in YCA.
- Responsible for recruitment, training, advancement, and retention of proposal personnel required to support the annual business plan and future growth.
- Controls access to YHQ applications for Tokuchu and special discounts related to strategic project sales.
- Participates in and contributes to sales/price strategy decisions in sales, and project execution strategy decisions in Operations.
- Advises and coordinates activities with all other departments/divisions, including sales, manufacturing, engineering, service, quality assurance, finance, legal, and HR.
- Leads proposal activities for critical mega-projects to ensure timely completion with quality and accuracy, increasing YCA business opportunities in the region and globally.
- Responsible for providing uncompromised quality to all work processed in the designated area of responsibility; has the authority to halt work processes if quality is compromised.
- Must be able to travel up to 30% in support of regional and global business activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BA or BS in Engineering or a technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 15 years of industrial experience, with a minimum of 8 years in control systems sales, proposals, or engineering, and at least 2 years in management.
- Good technical knowledge of control systems in process automation, including networking, hardware and software components, engineering, integration, and project execution.
- Management experience, including strong leadership, strategy-making and execution, operational processes and procedures, and cross-communication and coordination skills.

- Proposal Leadership & Accountability: Owns end-to-end proposal execution with full responsibility for quality, accuracy, timeliness, and governance—especially for large and strategic projects.
- Control Systems & Automation Expertise: Strong technical understanding of industrial control systems, including hardware, software, networking, integration, and project execution in process automation environments.
- People Leadership & Resource Management: Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain proposal teams while planning resources and capacity against sales forecasts and business demand.
- Strategic & Commercial Acumen: Contributes to sales pricing strategy and execution decisions, balancing competitiveness, risk, and profitability in complex proposals.
- Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration: Effectively coordinates with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal, and global affiliates to align proposal standards and support business objectives.
