Property Underwriter I (Remote, US)

Openly is seeking a Personal Lines Underwriter I to join our growing Operations team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in evaluating risk, supporting product filings, and managing our home inspection program.

Key Responsibilities

• Manages the full-cycle home inspection program including tracking progress, reviewing results and making decisions on high risk properties
• Initiates policy non-renewals and cancellations as needed
• Identifies areas of process opportunities to streamline the home inspection program internally and externally
• Responds timely to our internal and external business partners
• PARTNERS WITH THE PRODUCT TEAM ON POLICY FORM FILINGS BY REVIEWING CONTRACT LANGUAGE AND COVERAGE, COMPILING REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION, AND EVALUATING RISKS AGAINST UNDERWRITING GUIDELINES
• IDENTIFIES OPPORTUNITIES AND PROVIDES FEEDBACK REGARDING AGENT RESOURCES, SUCH AS UNDERWRITING GUIDES AND HELP ARTICLES

Job Requirements

• 1+ years of professional experience in either personal lines insurance underwriting, claims, or property inspections
• Organized with high attention to detail
• Motivated, resourceful, and inquisitive, proven track record of successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Basic knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills, both with external customers and internal business partners
• History of teamwork and collaboration across various functions
• Some travel may be required (approx. 5%)

Preferred Qualifications

• Has worked with Product and Business Development on agency portfolio reviews
• Experience using Notion for documentation
