Property Tax Experienced Associate

About the role

The Weaver State and Local Tax team is seeking a Property Tax Experienced Associate to join their growing team. This role involves providing property tax planning, consulting, and compliance services to a diverse client base in various industry sectors. Responsibilities include working on complex property tax engagements, analyzing tax issues, preparing compliance filings, and collaborating with assessing officials.

Responsibilities

• Work on large, complex tax projects
• Analyze a wide range of tax issues and implications for various entities and their affiliates
• Prepare compliance filings, complete reviews, and prepare valuations
• Collaborate with assessing officials to deliver exceptional service to clients
• Research and analyze raw data from ERP systems to reconcile to trial balances and tax returns
• Manage projects including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence, and billing

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• 1-2+ years of experience with property tax compliance, planning, analysis, research, and/or property tax appeals
• Familiarity with basic tax research techniques (RIA, CCH)
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Team orientation and strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• CPA Candidate, CPA, CMI, or active Texas Property Tax Consultant license
• Experience preparing property tax returns, reviewing assessments, and appeals
• Experience working in property tax and/or with property tax assessors
• Knowledge of managing projects including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence, and billing
• Experience with PTMS or SigerTax
