Property Tax Consultant

About the role

Manage the compliance and valuation for assigned state and local property tax returns, including keeping well-documented and accurate analysis and support. Ensure tax payments are made timely and internal policies and procedures are followed. Maintain internal controls for all compliance functions. Handle inquiries and audits related to assigned state and local filings. Provide property tax advice and guidance to Verizon management and personnel through subject matter expertise in interpretation of existing laws, regulations, court cases, tax returns, and assessments. Foster and maintain open communication and working relationships with the team, tax department customers, and state and local taxing authorities. Handle high volumes of data utilizing Property Tax software, Excel, Alteryx, generative AI solutions, and other pertinent tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 4 or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
• Experience in accounting, tax, or finance-related role.
• Excel skills.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Bachelor's Degree and/or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting.
• A CPA.
• Four plus years of multistate property tax or other related experience.
• Alteryx or other generative AI skills.
• Experience with PTMS.
• Ability to build relationships and work cross-functionally.
• Analytical and planning skills.
• Success working both hands-on and in a team-based environment.
• Highly motivated, technical, and detail-oriented.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Schedule

This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office, with the location set by your manager. Scheduled weekly hours are 40.

Pay

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive-based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, compensation will be adjusted to reflect hours.
