About the role

As a Property Porter, you will be an essential member of the property management team, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the multi-family property. Your role involves performing a variety of tasks to ensure that the property's common areas, grounds, and facilities are well-maintained and presentable to residents, tenants, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning and upkeep of common areas, including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, elevators, and outdoor spaces, to ensure they are free of debris, trash, and litter.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors in common areas, ensuring cleanliness and safety for occupants and visitors.
  • Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in designated areas, adhering to proper disposal protocols and recycling guidelines.
  • Clean and disinfect public restrooms, replenishing supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness of parking lots, sidewalks, and entryways, removing snow, ice, and other hazards during inclement weather.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as light bulb replacement, minor repairs, and touch-up painting to preserve the appearance and functionality of common areas.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture, equipment, and amenities for events, meetings, or resident/tenant move-ins and move-outs.
  • Inspect and report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damages to property management for timely resolution.
  • Assist with landscaping duties, including watering plants, trimming bushes, and maintaining flower beds, to enhance the property's curb appeal.
  • Assist residents or tenants with moving furniture, packages, or other belongings as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing tasks, using personal protective equipment and exercising caution to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment, and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Provide assistance and support to property management and maintenance staff as directed.
  • Responsibilities may involve overtime to meet the changing needs of the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in janitorial work, custodial services, or property maintenance preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others.
  • Dependable and punctual with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Two years of experience as a Porter or Janitor.

Schedule

  • 8-hour shift & on-call
  • Full-time
