Contract position overseeing day-to-day operations for residential and commercial properties in California.
About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Manager to balance tenant relations, property performance, and compliance responsibilities while maintaining high service standards. The ideal candidate brings hands-on property management experience and is comfortable coordinating leasing activity, vendor services, and occupancy needs in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily management activities for assigned residential and commercial properties, ensuring buildings are well-maintained and operating efficiently.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for tenants, addressing concerns, resolving issues promptly, and supporting positive tenant relationships.
- Coordinate leasing-related tasks, including unit availability, move-ins, move-outs, renewals, and occupancy tracking.
- Monitor property condition through routine inspections and arrange maintenance or repair work with internal teams or third-party vendors.
- Oversee rent collection, review property records, and support budget awareness by tracking operating expenses and basic financial performance.
- Ensure properties remain aligned with applicable housing regulations, lease obligations, and HUD-related requirements where applicable.
- Work closely with contractors, service providers, and ownership stakeholders to maintain service quality and property standards.
- Prepare reports on property activity, occupancy, maintenance status, and operational issues for management review.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience managing residential, commercial, or mixed-use properties.
- Demonstrated knowledge of core property management practices, including tenant support, leasing coordination, and facility oversight.
- Experience working within a property management company or similar real estate environment.
- Familiarity with commercial property management and residential property management responsibilities.
- Understanding of HUD guidelines and compliance considerations is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing property needs.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills for working with tenants, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
