About the role
We are looking for an experienced Property Manager to oversee a 35-unit affordable housing community in Maine. This is an onsite Long-term Contract opportunity for a detail-oriented individual who can balance day-to-day property operations with strong leadership and resident support.
Responsibilities
- Direct the daily operations of a 35-unit affordable housing property, ensuring the community is maintained efficiently and effectively.
- Supervise onsite support staff, including part-time maintenance and cleaning personnel, while setting clear expectations and improving team performance.
- Build positive, constructive relationships with residents and respond to concerns with patience, consistency, and good judgment.
- Oversee leasing, occupancy, rent collection, resident files, and general administrative duties in alignment with affordable housing program standards.
- Monitor property conditions and coordinate maintenance or repair needs to support a safe and welcoming living environment.
- Help maintain housing stability by working effectively within a community serving residents who may require additional support services.
- Ensure compliance with HUD and affordable housing requirements, including accurate documentation and operational follow-through.
Requirements
- Prior experience managing residential or affordable housing properties is required.
- Working knowledge of HUD guidelines and affordable housing compliance practices.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide and strengthen onsite staff.
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution abilities when working with residents, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple operational priorities while staying organized and detail-oriented.
- Experience with rent administration, property records, inspections, and general site oversight.
- Comfortable working onsite in Bangor, Maine in a hands-on property management role.
