Pay

The starting pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00 per hour. The full pay range is $21.00 - $35.70 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

About the role

Property Management supports a profitable business by ensuring that assets are well-maintained and functional, and services are completed on time while minimizing vendor cost. Property Management (PM) maintains physical assets and mitigates excess spending to ensure that store teams can focus on serving guests without distraction. PM also supports remodel efforts, executes new project sets, and enables efficient front-of-store and backroom operations to delight guests.

This role provides the opportunity to develop skills in:

  • Identifying and safely executing preventive and corrective maintenance on all building assets and equipment
  • Completing work within compliance standards and Target guidelines
  • Working with vendors and influencing timely completion of their work
  • Influencing store teams to align project work with PM priorities and financial goals
  • Working with plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, life safety power systems, and electrical equipment
  • Understanding repair versus replace decisions and managing costs

Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly experience. Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target’s guest experience commitments.
  • Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align the team on the right behaviors and execution.
  • Utilize technology (e.g., mobile devices, AI) to create, troubleshoot, prioritize, and safely complete work orders.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on building assets and equipment, including plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, life safety power systems, and electrical.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures and training, use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and ensure a safe work environment by identifying and correcting equipment safety hazards.
  • Teach and train store teams to follow safety procedures.
  • Identify and perform corrective maintenance on building assets.
  • Inform and engage the store leadership team on property management workload priorities and share impacts of store processes on asset care, maintenance, and functionality.
  • Lead and demonstrate a culture of executing best practices as outlined within team onboarding and learning; help close skill gaps through development, coaching, and team interactions.
  • Evaluate store brand and ensure assets and vendor performance meet maintenance and functionality standards with Property Management Business Partner guidance.
  • Assist in executing special projects, remodels, and support PM assets and service strategies in partnership with the store team.
  • Ensure internal and external work orders are completed safely and efficiently; hold vendors accountable for work orders assigned to them.
  • Assist in managing emergency situations as needed in partnership with store and field leaders.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences.
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 1+ years of technical education preferred in electrical, mechanical, carpentry, HVAC, or plumbing, and/or experience in basic door repair, HVAC filter changing, carpentry, power equipment/mechanical repair, and basic equipment troubleshooting
  • Basic technical skills and general experience working with property assets
  • Proficiency in operating power tools, HVAC, wet/dry vacuum, and other powered equipment
  • Strong skills in managing vendor relationships, ensuring accountability, and achieving quality service results
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to use technology and multiple communication devices
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently and provide support to the store team
  • Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
  • Climb up and down ladders
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds without assistance
  • Flexible work schedule that aligns with all operating hours (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays); regular and prompt attendance necessary
  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing job duties
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
