Property Accounting Manager
Summary
Responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate assets, ensuring accurate financial statements, compliance with GAAP, and time completion of the monthly close process. Manage and review the work and flow of Property Accountants, and drive process improvements to enhance the reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Location
The Property Accountant Manager can be based at our Corporate Office in Greenwich, CT, or our Tampa Support Center in Tampa, FL. The position is a hybrid role where you work out of the office 3-days per week, and then remotely 2-days per week. The hybrid work schedule will be discussed during the interview/selection process.

Key Qualifications
- 7 or more years of accounting experience in a multi-family residential, resort, or hospitality industries
- Bachelor's Degree required, CPA or CPA Candidate preferred, not required
- Proven ability to build, lead and manage productive and motivated teams of Property Accountants
- Experience using Yardi property management software systems
Primary Responsibilities
- Review of financials & reporting
- Review monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for each property
- Analyze variances vs. budget and prior periods
- Ensure outputs tie to the general ledger and supporting schedules
- Cook with external auditors by preparing workpapers, responding to audit requests, and reviewing audit deliverables
- Manage the close process
- Oversee (and often assist with) journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Ensure month-end close is completed accurately and on time
- Review account reconciliations prepared by staff
- Supervise and review work
- Provide guidance, training, and escalation support
- Book capital transaction entries – refinancing, conversion, distribution, etc.
- Drive process improvement
- Identify inefficiencies in close/reporting workflows
- Implement process or system improvements
- Help standardize procedures across the portfolio
Education
4 year Bachelor's degree is preferred, CPA or CPA Candidate preferred, not required
Skills and Certifications
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Highly proficient in Excel
- Experience using Yardi property management software
