Property Accountant

Job Description

The Property Accountant is responsible for the full cycle accounting for a portfolio of hotel properties. Duties include: preparing and maintaining accurate financial records by performing a variety of accounting tasks, applying accepted procedures to the preparation and maintenance of financial records, and preparing financial, statistical, and/or technical reports within the existing internal control framework.

Essential Job Functions

• Monthly close procedures
• Preparation, detailed analysis, and reconciliation of:
• Financial statements
• General ledgers
• Budgets
• Cash flow projections
• Perform daily activities such as posting daily sales and cash journal entries
• Provide accounting support to the portfolio’s managers
• Provide accurate and timely financial information to both internal and external stakeholders
• Aid in internal and external Audit requests
• Aid in meeting Tax Compliance including Monthly Sales Tax Filings
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Complete ad hoc requests

• Excellent verbal, comprehension, listening, and problem-solving skills
• Detail oriented
• Well organized
• Relevant Accounting experience and skills
• Possess strong organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of general ledger systems, financial chart of accounts, and corporate procedures
• Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
• 4+ years of experience in an accounting/finance environment
• Hospitality experience and/or real estate background is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to sit; stand; bend; walk; use hands or fingers; or feel objects, tools or controls
• Lift boxes (up to 15 pounds)
