Job Description
The Property Accountant is responsible for the full cycle accounting for a portfolio of hotel properties. Duties include: preparing and maintaining accurate financial records by performing a variety of accounting tasks, applying accepted procedures to the preparation and maintenance of financial records, and preparing financial, statistical, and/or technical reports within the existing internal control framework.
Essential Job Functions
- Monthly close procedures
- Preparation, detailed analysis, and reconciliation of:
- Financial statements
- General ledgers
- Budgets
- Cash flow projections
- Perform daily activities such as posting daily sales and cash journal entries
- Provide accounting support to the portfolio’s managers
- Provide accurate and timely financial information to both internal and external stakeholders
- Aid in internal and external Audit requests
- Aid in meeting Tax Compliance including Monthly Sales Tax Filings
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Complete ad hoc requests
Necessary Skills and Attributes
- Excellent verbal, comprehension, listening, and problem-solving skills
- Detail oriented
- Well organized
- Relevant Accounting experience and skills
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of general ledger systems, financial chart of accounts, and corporate procedures
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
- 4+ years of experience in an accounting/finance environment
- Hospitality experience and/or real estate background is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit; stand; bend; walk; use hands or fingers; or feel objects, tools or controls
- Lift boxes (up to 15 pounds)
