About the role
The Propane Driver / Service Technician supports and delivers propane services to members from our Nashport, OH Service Center. This hands-on role involves installation, maintenance, emergency response, and compliance with all safety and regulatory standards in the propane industry.
Responsibilities
- Support and incorporate the Cooperative’s Mission, Vision and Values in professional behavior and decisions.
- Comply with all Cooperative policies, procedures, goals, and objectives; meet attendance and punctuality guidelines.
- Understand, observe, and enforce cooperative safety and security procedures; report unsafe conditions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws.
- Install and replace propane storage tanks, lines, regulators, and meters at member locations.
- Perform gas leak and appliance inspections and line leak testing using industry-specific equipment.
- Evaluate potential locations for propane tank, regulator, and line installations.
- Deliver propane and propane accessories to members.
- Respond to emergency calls, including after hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Prepare documentation on propane installations, checks, replacements, repairs, and inspections.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two to three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Class B or greater Commercial Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Possess or ability to obtain hazardous materials, tanker, and air brakes endorsements.
- Certification in propane system installation, operation, and service from an approved testing agency.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Standard Gas Codes, NFPA-54, NFPA-58, National Fuel Gas Codes, and industry practices.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and stay informed of new industry technology.
- Understanding of and compliance with approved industry methods, safety practices, and regulatory guidelines.
- Ability to identify and use tools commonly used in the gas industry.
Physical Demands
- Regularly walk, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, stoop, and use hand tools to open/close trenches.
- Operate tools, power equipment, and drive a Company truck.
- Lift objects in excess of 50 pounds, occasionally with assistance or lifting devices.
- Perform work in adverse weather conditions.
This position is subject to pre-employment physical, background check, and substance abuse testing, as well as random testing per the Cooperative’s substance abuse policy.
