About the role
This position offers the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule in one of the following offices: Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; Asheville, NC; Wilmington, NC; Greenville, SC; Johnson City, TN; Chattanooga, TN.
Responsibilities
- Performing and overseeing detailed hydrologic and hydraulic studies
- Developing innovative green infrastructure solutions for the urban environment
- Applying innovative hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, from 1-D to 3-D transport models
- Floodplain mapping and flood protection designs
- In-stream and urban stormwater water quality monitoring and modeling
- Field investigations and construction support services
- Developing construction documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Preparing erosion and sediment control designs
- Interacting with client representatives
- Directing multi-disciplinary project teams
- Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments
- Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring
- Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed
Requirements
- At least 7 years of research or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Some field work and overnight travel
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, agricultural, biological, biosystems engineering, natural resources or other science, with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline
- Advanced degree in the same (preferred)
- Professional registration or ability to obtain within one year (i.e., P.E., P.G., CPESC, CPSWG) (required)
