About the role

VIKA is a full-service Civil Engineering and Site Development consulting firm providing engineering, planning, surveys, landscape architecture, transportation, dry utility engineering, and subsurface utility engineering services throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and Northern Florida. We are seeking a Project Surveyor / Assistant Project Manager who is eager to grow into greater project ownership while supporting Senior Project Surveyors in delivering land development projects.

This is an in-office position based at our Tysons, Virginia office. The successful candidate will apply intermediate technical knowledge across boundary, ALTA, and cadastral surveys, coordinate with project teams, agencies, and clients, and build jurisdictional expertise across one or two localities.

Requirements

  • Surveyor-In-Training (SIT) certification attained or in process
  • 4–6 years of surveying experience
  • Experienced with Civil 3D AutoCAD
  • Intermediate proficiency in boundary surveys, cut sheet preparation, and construction stakeout
  • Working knowledge of cadastral surveys, plats, easement documents, and title report/deed review
  • Familiarity with survey standards and approval processes across local, county, and state jurisdictions
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to take on more responsibility
  • Ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing experience
  • A willingness to mentor entry-level staff while continuing to grow technically and professionally

Your Impact

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the following areas:

  • Survey Leadership: Lead survey operations while assisting Director(s), applying advanced knowledge of coordinate geometry computations and preparing surveying documents for specific project development phases.
  • Advanced Technical Expertise: Demonstrate advanced experience in cut sheet preparation, construction stakeout, and all aspects of cadastral surveys, plats, and easement documents with conformance to jurisdictional requirements, review title reports, prepare ALTA surveys.
  • Project Coordination: Lead coordination efforts with clients, agencies, and VIKA multi-disciplinary teams, maintain advanced proficiency in boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys.
  • Professional Excellence: Attend client meetings, serve as training resource for Project Surveyors and Survey Technicians, participate in industry events, and maintain advanced knowledge of all regulatory approval processes and standards.
  • Professional Growth: Participate in professional development activities, assist in proposal development, support project billing functions, and contribute to business development efforts while gaining advanced jurisdictional experience.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,000 – $80,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, in accordance with applicable law.
