About the Role

Ensure supervision excellence for the Projects Department while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values. This full-time position supervises ongoing capital and non-capital projects assigned by the Projects Superintendent for Kinross Nevada.

Responsibilities

  • Support Projects and Operational groups at Round Mountain as assigned.
  • Act as liaison between stakeholders and business partners on-site to meet engineering specifications and supervision requirements.
  • Write and review Statements of Work (SOWs) for each project as required.
  • Review bids and evaluate proposals with stakeholders to recommend to Supply Chain.
  • Write Permits to Work (PTW) for departments and business partners when needed.
  • Monitor schedules and priorities set by the Projects team to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Oversee business partner activities in the field to ensure efficient, safe operations and recommend revised procedures when problems arise.
  • Schedule and lead weekly project meetings with affected departments and business partners to discuss updates and timelines.
  • Communicate in a timely manner when schedules affect other departments, including shutdowns or work area impacts.
  • Review invoices for accuracy and report discrepancies.
  • Ensure consistency in the application of company policies.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in the workplace and off work to protect sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the mining or construction industry.
  • Minimum of five years’ supervisory experience.
  • Must be a salaried employee and a self-starter.
  • Willingness to devote time required to complete capital projects and be on call during off hours if needed.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to balance resource allocations with changing priorities.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of pump and piping systems, structural design, conveyor systems, electrical, instrumentation, and control.
  • Knowledge of project structure and supervision.
  • Proficiency in JDE and Microsoft Office programs.

About the Company

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the world’s best mining jurisdictions. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the company’s portfolio, pouring its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations. The mine is a key contributor to the Nye County economy and has worked with local stakeholders to achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education.
