Project Superintendent
Position Overview
The Superintendent is responsible for the overall coordination, planning, scheduling, safety, quality control, and daily management of field construction operations. This individual will provide leadership to project teams, coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, maintain project schedules, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Direct daily field operations and workforce activities.
Lead foremen, craft workers, subcontractors, and assistant superintendents.
Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
Conduct project meetings and communicate expectations clearly.Project Execution
Interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
Develop and maintain project schedules and three-week look-ahead plans.
Cookordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Monitor productivity and identify opportunities for improvement.Safety Leadership
Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
Conduct site inspections, safety meetings, and hazard assessments.
Promote a proactive safety culture where every employee returns home safely.Quality Control
Ensure all work meets project specifications and quality standards.
Identify and resolve construction issues before they impact schedule or budget.
Coordinate inspections and maintain quality documentation.Communication & Documentation
Maintain accurate daily reports and project records.
Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions to project management.
Cookordinate effectively with owners, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum 10 years of construction experience.
Minimum 5 years in a Foreman or Superintendent leadership role.
Strong knowledge of heavy civil, utility, mechanical, transportation, or water/wastewater construction.
Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.Preferred:
OSHA 30 Certification.
CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.
Experience with Procore.
Experience managing multiple subcontractors and complex project schedules.
Competent Person certifications in excavation, fall protection, or confined space entry.
