About the role
The Weitz Company is seeking a Project Superintendent to lead field operations and maintain safety standards on various construction sites. This role requires 5-10 years of project superintendent experience, preferably in commercial construction, particularly on projects such as resorts, education facilities, municipal buildings, hospitality venues, aviation projects, and senior living communities.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary leader of subcontractors and field forces on a job site
- Maintain project safety in accordance with the Company’s Safety Policy
- Develop and update the project schedule
- Prepare two-week look ahead schedules
- Update project schedules utilizing computerized scheduling software
- Aid in the buyout and selection of major subcontractors
- Coordinate the work of the subcontractors' field forces
- Communicate effectively with owners, designers, and engineers
- Maintain accurate cost reports
- Ensure all required paperwork is completed, accurate, and timely
- Adhere to all company policies, standards, and procedures
- Provide opportunities to help the team develop, learn, and grow
- Foster positive relationships with both internal and external parties
Requirements
- Experience working on resort, education, municipal, hospitality, aviation, and/or senior living construction projects is required
- Commercial construction experience working for a general contractor (GC)
- Ability to read/interpret construction documents
- Knowledge of construction methods and materials
- Excellent project organizational skills
- Impressive leadership skills with the desire to teach, mentor, and develop a team
- Business acumen and relationship building skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels of the organization
- Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Systems experience with Prolog, JDE, and SureTrak is a plus
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Ability to pass a background check
