Project Superintendent
About the role
The Christman Company is seeking Project Superintendent candidates in the DC Metro / Northern Virginia region. The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day operations on construction sites, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to project schedules.
Responsibilities
- Ensures Christman is represented at the project site every day.
- Reviews and evaluates construction documents for constructability and efficiency.
- Establishes project site expectations for safety, quality, and conduct.
- Develops and communicates a safety orientation for all site personnel.
- Plans and coordinates site logistics, including traffic patterns and equipment locations.
- Partners with the Project Manager, client, and trade contractors to develop a work plan.
- Coordinates project team's preparation for upcoming work through progress meetings.
- Manages trade contractor work according to the project schedule.
- Interprets construction documents and drawings, recommends construction methods, and ensures compliance with specifications.
- Communicates quality expectations with trade foremen.
- Arranges and coordinates timely permitting and inspections.
- Maintains a rolling punch list and verifies trade contractor timesheets.
- Authorizes purchase requisitions and completes daily reports.
- Addresses conflicts and disputes with mutual solutions.
- Compiles and presents evaluations of trade contractors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of commercial construction experience in a leadership role as a Foreman or Superintendent.
- Successful completion of Construction Management, Project Management, Safety, or Communication courses.
- Ability to manage and plan work activities, recognize safety concerns, and promote a safe culture.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and ability to supervise large trade and subcontractor groups.
- Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office applications.

Pay
The expected salary range for this position in Virginia / District of Columbia is $95,000- $125,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.
