Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage integrated project schedules for large-scale heavy civil construction projects using Primavera P6.
- Create and maintain project schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project turnover.
- Track project progress, update schedules, analyze variances, and identify potential risks or delays.
- Monitor critical path activities and provide recommendations to keep projects on schedule.
- Develop resource-loaded schedules including workforce, equipment, and material planning.
- Support project controls functions including cash flow forecasting, earned value reporting, and performance tracking.
- Evaluate schedule impacts from changes, delays, and unforeseen events, and develop recovery plans where required.
- Prepare schedule reports, forecasts, and executive-level updates for project leadership and clients.
- Participate in project planning sessions, risk reviews, and schedule review meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of scheduling/planning experience in heavy civil, mining, earthworks, or infrastructure construction, with demonstrated ownership of project schedules from baseline through closeout.
- Advanced, hands-on proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6 (Professional and/or EPPM), including resource and cost loading, multiple float paths, global changes, and baseline management. Experience with Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC) is required or must be developed quickly; candidates strong in one platform and conversant in the other will be considered.
- Proven experience building resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules tied to quantities, production rates, and cost/control account structures.
- Working knowledge of scheduling fundamentals CPM logic, total float and critical path analysis, calendars, constraints, lags/leads discipline, and schedule levels (L1-L4).
- Strong Excel skills for quantity, production, histogram, and cash flow analysis; ability to move data cleanly between P6 and reporting tools.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract schedule requirements, and to translate contract language into schedule structure and reporting obligations.
- Strong communication skills — able to facilitate planning sessions with superintendents and defend schedule logic with owners' project controls teams.
- Likewise, legal ability to work in Canada and ability to travel to and work at remote project sites in Canada and the United States (camp-based rotations where required).
