About the role
A Project Safety Coordinator at Irby Construction Company (Transmission Powerline Construction) (TEXAS/OKLAHOMA)
Responsibilities
- Leading and reinforcing Irby’s culture of Ownership of Safety
- Coaching crews to identify and correct hazards in real time
- Integrating safety planning into daily operations — from pre-construction through completion
- Safely executing transmission activities, including: structure erection, wire stringing, rigging, energized line work, grounding, and heavy equipment operations and more
- Leading tailgate talks, site meetings, and on-the-job training
- Managing incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions
- Ensuring OSHA compliance, audits, and documentation
- Driving continuous improvement and proactive risk management
Requirements
- 5+ years of field safety or leadership experience (e.g., General Foreman, Crew Lead, Journeyman Lineman, Operator, Crane experience) in Transmission Powerline and Substation Construction
- Strong communication and leadership skills with credibility in the field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Knowledge and/or Experience with safety documentation and reporting systems
- Communication skills (verbally and electronically)
Preferred, Not Required
- First Aid/CPR/AED & Bloodborne Pathogens Trainer Certification
- CHST or similar safety credential
