About the Role
The Project Quality Engineer (QE) is a technical resource supporting multiple AMETEK sites across North America. The QE leads and supports root cause analysis, supplier quality improvement, MRB/problem disposition, corrective action, and process improvement initiatives to reduce defects, scrap, rework, supplier escapes, and customer-impacting quality issues. The QE partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Suppliers to improve product and process quality across the region.
Ideally, the QE will work from our site in Columbus, OH. Additional sites where the QE can be based are in Rochester, NY, Houston, TX, or Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality engineering support for multiple manufacturing and service sites throughout North America.
- Partner with site leadership teams to standardize quality processes, metrics, and best practices.
- Lead supplier quality activities including supplier qualification, audits, corrective actions (SCARs), performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with Supply Chain and suppliers to resolve component and material quality issues and reduce supplier-related defects.
- Analyze supplier quality trends and develop improvement plans with key suppliers.
- Support supplier audits, risk assessments, FAI/PPAP/APQP activities, and supplier development programs as required.
- Travel periodically to supplier locations and AMETEK sites within North America.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related discipline; or equivalent combination of certifications and experience
- 5+ years of quality engineering experience
- Experience supporting supplier quality activities including audits, corrective actions, and supplier performance improvement
- Working knowledge of FMEA, root cause analysis, Lean Six Sigma, and Supplier Quality
- Experience using measurement and test equipment (e.g., calipers, DMM)
- Familiarity with ISO 9001/14001/27001
Qualifications
- Experience in power electronics and/or electrical equipment manufacturing
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE)
- Strong cross-functional communication skills
- Auditor training/ASQ/NQA-1 exposure
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

Pay
Salary range: $80,000 – $105,000 USD (actual salary offered will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, market/business considerations, and geographic location).
