Project/Program Manager
Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to impact military defense and the safety of sailors by supporting maintenance and planning for C4I systems onboard U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers (CVNs) and Surface Ships. This opportunity is based in Chesapeake, VA and requires the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Security clearance, with the expectation to obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance upon hire.
About the role
Within Serco’s Ship and Submarine Modernization division, you will support the U.S. Navy as a prime contractor for CTII (C4I modernization), NSC2I (C4I new construction), and Big Blue (C4I modernization and HM&E) contracts. The team upgrades, installs, maintains, and manages C4I systems that provide network and communication capabilities, ensuring the safety of sailors and mission success. You will join a large team of installers working closely with customers and other Serco teams, contributing to programs recognized for outstanding performance.
Responsibilities
- Manage C4I installation contracts for aircraft carriers and surface ships, with annual revenue typically ranging from $9-18M.
- Contribute to all phases of C4I program lifecycles, including strategic planning, progress monitoring, issue resolution, and corrective actions.
- Apply industry-standard project management principles and tools to manage cost, schedule, and quality, including Earned Value Management, platform execution plans, material and logistics management, risk management, metrics analysis, and continuous process improvement.
- Leverage advanced knowledge of CVN and surface platforms and their associated C4I systems.
- Develop, establish, and maintain programs to support company initiatives while ensuring quality assurance and program integrity.
- Participate in business development efforts to grow the business through new and recompete opportunities, including teaming with industry partners.
- Maintain alignment and relationships with internal and external customers.
- Manage a team of 30 or more employees, including direct report managers.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Security clearance, with the ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance.
- One of the following education/experience combinations:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school and 5 years of project management experience.
- Associate's degree and 7 years of project/program management experience.
- High School Diploma/GED and 9 years of project management experience.
- Experience consulting directly with military customers.
- Ability to travel up to 25% to engage with government customers and industry events.
Desired Skills
- Extensive experience in Navy and DoD acquisition processes, including Naval Ship new construction, modernization, and Navy C4I programs.
- US Navy veteran qualified in C4I systems operation and maintenance.
- Experience as a U.S. Navy Engineering/Limited Duty Officer collaborating with major shipyards (public and private) on non-nuclear operation, maintenance, repair, design, test, and modernization (SHIPALT/SCD) of C4I and electronic equipment on aircraft carriers and surface ships.
- Detailed knowledge of technical specifications and standards for C4I systems.
