About the role

The Project Procurement Manager (PPM) is part of the center-led Procurement Team, achieving competitive advantage through the application of best practices in supply management and driving overall business profitability. The PPM has a thorough understanding of the total process flow and knowledge of the procurement and expediting systems, as well as a working knowledge of inspection, logistics, and site material receiving systems. This role works on complex assignments where judgment is required in resolving problems and making recommendations, with minimal departmental supervision. On larger projects, the PPM may lead a group of procurement specialists and logistics coordinators. This role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 3 days in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as the main point of contact to internal Project and Operations customers for Procurement.
  • Assists management in defining and documenting project-specific procurement policy, strategy, and objectives, ensuring alignment with quality commitments and implementation across the project.
  • Establishes and maintains procedures based on company policies to control processes and data related to supply management scope for the project.
  • Trains and mentors Procurement teammates.
  • Works with assigned Procurement teammates to contact suppliers for timely submission of production progress, documentation, shipment plans, and delivery updates.
  • Expedites actions as needed (e.g., order action, stakeholder coordination, and reports).
  • Evaluates production schedules, shipping dates, and progress reports from suppliers to ensure alignment with jobsite, QA, and engineering requirements.
  • Coordinates data accumulation from Procurement Specialists and issues regular reports.
  • Participates in kick-off/procurement meetings to review schedules and address potential problem areas impacting shipment dates.
  • Ensures logistics coordinators or procurement specialists arrange shipping and tracking as required.
  • Conducts site or supplier visits as needed.
  • Creates and executes procurement strategies aligned with business goals and long-term plans.
  • Engages senior-level teams (stakeholders) to ensure alignment with organizational strategic objectives and project needs.
  • Demonstrates leadership and expertise to internal teams.
  • Reports on project-specific procurement progress.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Drives the use of procurement best practices and standardization of processes while minimizing supply risk.
  • Proactively engages in continuous improvement opportunities and evaluates ways to enhance the Procurement Team.
  • Facilitates change management with colleagues and key contacts throughout the organization.
  • Actively drives the use of various software platforms used by Procurement.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with the Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Presents, supports, and leads by example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, engineering, supply chain management, or equivalent degree, or 10+ years’ military/education/relevant work/field experience combination.
  • 5 or more years’ experience managing and executing procurement project plans.
  • Ability to travel domestically 31 to 50%.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with procurement, expediting, logistics, inspection, receiving, asset, and inventory management procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including scenarios with uncertain information and tight timeframes.
  • Experience managing multiple projects of varying complexity successfully.
  • High level of competence with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in construction management, business, engineering, supply chain management, or equivalent degree, or 10+ years’ military/education/relevant work/field experience combination.
  • ISM, CIPS, or PMP certification.
  • 10 or more years’ experience managing and executing procurement project plans.
  • Construction procurement experience with a focus on renewables (Solar, Wind, Storage, T&D), preferably related to the supply of major equipment and/or subcontracts.
  • Knowledge of the renewable construction industry and associated field concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean methodology.
  • Functional competencies include accountability, building strategic partnerships, business acumen, collaboration, and excellence.

Pay

Anticipated base salary range: $123,000 - $154,000. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
