Project Manager - Transportation Construction

About the role

We are seeking a Project Manager to support our nationally recognized Transportation Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team in South Carolina. The ideal candidate will lead and manage CEI activities for major infrastructure projects, administer construction contracts, ensure quality assurance and control, coordinate with governing agencies, support business development, and mentor and develop CEI staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) activities for major infrastructure projects.
  • Administer construction contracts, including review and processing of change orders, supplemental agreements, requests for information (RIFIs), and claims.
  • Manage quality assurance and quality control programs, ensuring proper inspection, materials testing, and documentation procedures are implemented.
  • Cookordination with various governing agencies for project compliance.
  • Support business development activities, proposal preparation, project interviews, and client relationship management, as needed.
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule.
  • Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed.
  • Mentor and develop CEI staff.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • 20 years of progressive working experience and expertise in the inspection and administration of infrastructure projects OR licensed professional engineer in the state of South Carolina (or the ability to obtain a SC PE within 6 months) with 15 years of progressive experience and expertise.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Experience with South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) policies, procedures, specifications, and construction administration requirements, local candidates are preferred.
  • Experience supporting alternative delivery projects, including Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, or Public-Private Partnership (P3) projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and related professional experience
  • 7 years related experience
  • A minimum of 2 years project management experience
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Pay

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
