About the role

RK&K seeks a Project Manager in Seattle to support our Transportation team and regional growth in the Pacific Northwest. As a senior team member, you will lead dynamic transportation pursuits and projects, focusing on traffic design and analysis engineering programs for public agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic engineering design plans, preliminary engineering design, transportation planning studies, and traffic operations analysis.
  • Support projects for all travel modes including highway, bus, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian in urban, suburban, and rural environments.
  • Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices such as traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS).
  • Complete studies and develop high-quality traffic reports with limited direction; present findings professionally to clients on-site and virtually.
  • Utilize traffic analysis and simulation tools to perform traffic modeling and simulations.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations, and plan approvals.
  • Direct project staff and sub-consultants.
  • Serve as liaison between client and firm.
  • Execute QA/QC for completeness and accuracy of design work.
  • Provide engineering judgment and initiative within the Traffic Engineering field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) or more years of progressive experience in traffic engineering.
  • Experience working with WSDOT and local municipalities.
  • Exceptional writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills, including public speaking.
  • Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, and AASHTO guidelines.
  • Traffic control device design experience (signals, signing and marking, temporary traffic control, ITS) using MUTCD.
  • Experience with Synchro/SimTraffic and VISSIM (or other simulation analysis software).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or ability to obtain within six months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
  • Experience supervising other traffic engineers.

Pay

Salary range: $62.00–$77.00 per hour, based on professional experience, education, certifications, skills, and other compensable factors.
