About the role

The energy industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, transforming the utility landscape to enhance safety, reliability, and sustainability. In response, Jacobs is expanding its Energy & Power Major Programs team to tackle the complexities of decarbonization and utility modernization to deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future. We have multiple positions available for project and program management professionals seeking to apply and develop their skills by working closely with our utility and power clients as we expand our energy transition portfolio.

This position will offer you the opportunity to manage and further grow a project team involved in managing projects through various phases from concept to engineering design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out of greenfield and brownfield high voltage transmission, substation, and distribution facilities in the power industry. You will work as a lead across a multi-disciplinary team to manage the overall successful delivery of the assigned project(s) and to ensure projects adhere to client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or update financial forecasts, project schedules, and other necessary reports on a weekly/monthly basis, or as required, in accordance with the Client’s Project Management process.
  • Lead project meetings, arrange for meeting minutes, and distribute notes and actions to all project team members.
  • Manage client relationships to ensure all expectations are understood and met.
  • Work with the broader Jacobs team to ensure stewardship of positive client relationships, including active involvement in the resolution of any client concerns.
  • Monitor assigned projects to minimize risk and adhere to project budget, schedule, scope, and quality; identify and mitigate risks as they arise.
  • Manage project communications and promptly respond to project inquiries from client management or support teams, as necessary.
  • Notify project stakeholders immediately if the project is forecast to exceed approved budget or schedule or if significant project risks or issues have been identified.
  • Perform and/or facilitate project administrative activities including purchase and change orders, work status verification, processing of unvouchered liabilities, invoice reviews, and updating overall project status.
  • Coordinate engineering design development, drawing submittals, and quality review process.
  • Manage the resolution of emergent field issues as they arise, in accordance with all codes, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Track and manage project compliance (non-regulatory and regulatory).
  • Support resolution of any siting/permitting, municipality, and/or abutter issues.
  • Facilitate contractor sourcing activities including issuing RFPs, bid analysis, and award recommendations.
  • Lead in developing and pursuing business opportunities with existing or new potential clients.
  • Support Jacobs operational and business development teams with proposals or other materials for new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program or an advanced management/business degree.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in managing power delivery projects from initiation through financial project close-out as part of any CapEx or OpEx portfolio.
  • Experience delivering greenfield/brownfield OH T-line (138kV to 765kV), Rebuild/Reroute, Substation, Protection & Control, P&C, SCADA, Telecom, and/or IPP, Data Centers, Industrial Customer, Battery Storage projects.
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including but not limited to project controls, engineering, procurement, construction management, permitting, land acquisition, and surveying.
  • Ability to work with project controls on cost analysis, forecast, risk identification, assessment, and mitigation plan.
  • Proven track record of directly managing cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Excellent customer-facing, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellence in the development and delivery of presentation materials.
  • Proven excellence with verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; including proposal development, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.
  • Experience and training with general project management processes used within the utility industry.
  • Willing to travel to project sites and/or attend client meetings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with EPC contractors.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Previous Program Management for Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs) in the U.S.
  • Engineering degree and FE or PE License.
  • Construction, commissioning, and start-up experience.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $106,000.00 to $139,050.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Preference will be given to candidates sitting in the following Jacobs office locations: Columbus, OH; New Albany, OH; Gahanna, OH; Roanoke, VA; Fort Wayne, IN; Pikeville, KY; Ashland, KY.
